The Janitor

His earrings coil around
So snakes can whisper into his ears.
Symbols suffuse his arms
With darkness to others' eyes.

Parents' eyes.
They do not see what the children do.
They do not see how the teachers rely upon him.
They do not see.

When he goes on break,
He does not go out to smoke in the parking lot
To set a good example like the haters do.
He sits on the curb and reads philosophy.
